Twitter says it will no longer allow advertisers on its site who deny the scientific consensus on climate change, echoing a policy already in place at Google.
“Ads shouldn’t detract from important conversations about the climate crisis,” the company said in a statement outlining its new policy Friday.
There was no indication that the change would affect what users post on the social media site, which along with Facebook has been targeted by groups seeking to promote misleading claims about climate change.
The announcement coinciding with Earth Day came hours before the European Union agreed upon a deal requiring big tech companies to vet their sites more closely for hate speech, disinformation and other harmful content.
Twitter said it would provide more information in the coming months on how it plans to provide “reliable, authoritative context to the climate conversations” its users engage in, including from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The U.N.-backed science panel’s reports on the causes and effects of climate change provide the basis for international negotiations to curb climate change.
The company already has a dedicated climate topic on its site and offered what it described as “pre-bunks” during last year’s U.N. climate conference to counter misinformation surrounding climate change.

More dishonesty and censorship. Science is not done by “consensus”. This is a totalitarian push to mislead the public in order to get them to support tyranny. Elon Musk must succeed in taking these evil people down.
Proof that this is garbage. Science is not a consensus, not by 70% anyway.
Who are those UN backed scientists? The same ones, who predicted 50 years ago the world would starve from over-population? The same ones who “remember” the “big bang” millions of years ago?

Jersey Jew, the number they (falsely) claim support them is not 70% but 97%. It still makes no difference. As you say, science is not done by consensus. Even if 97% of scientists with knowledge of the relevant field held one opinion, that would not make it true, or invalidate the other 3%. How much more so when that 97% figure has long ago been exposed as a fabrication.
To DavidtheKanoli: I never heard of anyone, scientist or otherwise, “remembering” the big bang. It is a theory, supported by evidence. And every discussion I have heard says it was Billions, not millions, of years ago. But who’s counting?

There are prominent scientists who argue that climate change is baloney, that the earth has had constantly shifting temperatures since the beginning of time. But who are they anyway . But obviously those scientists are not very popular as they aren’t following the rules of science which is that u must agree with what other scientists say and not question them
