The Lakewood Police Department successfully apprehended five juveniles on Monday evening, and arrested them for firing paint-ball pellets at innocent pedestrians walking on Lakewood Streets.
Apparently, the 5 teens – all from Jackson – fired their paint-ball gun at a group of Yeshiva students walking on 7th Street near Lakewood Avenue on Monday evening. Thankfully, the pellets missed their intended targets, and hit the floor where the boys were walking. Taking note of the license plate number, make, model and color of the vehicle, the boys called the Lakewood PD and gave the dispatcher a good description of the vehicle.
A patrol car arrived at the scene, and confirmed that the incident was true – and an alert was given to all Lakewood PD cruisers to be on the look-out for the suspect vehicle.
At 9:53PM, officers Michael Delvalle & William Allen noticed the vehicle on Forest Avenue near Carey Street. The car was stopped, the weapon retrieved, and all five juveniles were arrested. They were taken to the Lakewood Police Station where they were processed.
The charges were:
14 year-old: Conspiracy
17-year-old: Conspiracy
17-year-old Conspiracy
16-year-old: Conspiracy
15 year-old: Possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose
Lakewood Police Chief Rob Lawson told YWN that the reason that the police were able to make these arrests quickly, was due to the excellent description that was given to them.
On a different note, Chief Lawson told YWN that the LPD is aggressively working to apprehend the persons responsible for the stabbing on Forest Avenue, and are diligently following numerous leads on the case.
