Fire at Scranton Yeshiva


fire.jpg4:40PM EST: Just a few moments ago, Yeshiva Bais Moshe in Scranton PA was evacuated after smoke filled the building, YWN has learned.

According to a YWN reporter on the scene, the fire apparently started in the boiler room and caused smoke to fill the building – located at 930 Hickory Street. Thankfully, the fire alarms rang accordingly, and the entire Bais Medrash was evacuated in an orderly fashion.

The Scranton FD was called and upon their arrival extinguished the blaze.

It is unknown at this time if there is any damage, but Boruch Hashem there were no injuries reported.

  1. The building is a former hospital puchased and renovated in 1976. There are about 150 students (highschool through bais medrash). It appears to have been a small fire with some smoke damage. B”H no injuries.

    It was no big deal, it was just a fire in the boiler room.
    No other damage accounted 4.
