Lakewood police are investigating the death of a man found lying on a township sidewalk by a passerby.

The man was found leaning against a garage on First Street between Lexington and Monmouth avenues, said Lakewood police Sgt. Joseph Goertz. He was declared dead at the scene.

Police have not yet identified the man, whom Goertz described as being Hispanic and in his 50s or 60s.

Investigators are treating the death as suspicious, Goertz said.
