WICHITA, KAN. – Theodore Riley Floyd, 28, Lakewood, N.J.,was sentenced Monday to a year in federal prison for using the stolen identity of a deceased Navy veteran to apply for a U.S. passport.
The defendant, who was indicted Feb. 6, 2008, under the name John Doe, later was identified as Theodore Riley Floyd. In April, he pleaded guilty to one count of making a false statement on an application for a passport.
In his plea, Floyd admitted that on March 28, 2002, he submitted an application for a U.S. passport to the Corporate Hills U.S. Post Office in Wichita, Kan. On the application, he used the name and Social Security number of Nathaniel James Levi, who is a deceased veteran of the United States Navy. Floyd received the passport and used it to help him assume Levi’s identity for fraudulent purposes.
“At the time he was arrested, Mr. Floyd was living in Lakewood, New Jersey and using the stolen identity,” said U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren. “This prosecution focuses on the federal crime that occurred in Kansas and not any other matters in which Mr. Floyd may have been involved.”
Melgren commended the Diplomatic Security Service of the U.S. Department of State, the Social Security Administration – Office of Inspector General and Assistant U.S. Attorney Brent Anderson for their work on the case.

Out and out criminal? Let’s not blow this out of proportion. How many Israelis are here using fake ID to get cars, houses, and other benefits? And while we’re at it, how many Russians suddenly wanted to be jewish and make aliyah? This guy lost everything, his wife, kids, friends, material possessions…justice has been served. Insulting him further reveals the flaws within us.

Your interesting categorization aside, I am confident that you pray for gentiles who are ill, unemployed, or otherwise needy, in addition to praying for a criminal jailed for identity theft. For that matter, I am sure you likewise pray for ALL jailed inmates, of all faiths and races.

my uncle in lakewood had this guy over on shabbos all the time he had no idea he was a goy. my aunt even gave their family closes.He was also involved in a hachnasas sefer Torah and wrote a letter in it, yhey had to look a video to see which letter he wrote to fix it.
there are 101 reasons why he did what he did.the fact that he got one year and only one year shows that he did not have any elobarate schemes.the law states that a false passport with a intent for financial crimes is a ten year offense while a stand alone false passport is a 4 month to 16 month according to federal scentencing guidelines.sorry he is no monster.whatever skeleton he was avoiding its no big deal.
We can never trust any news, or court cases decisions because we don’t even know what their intentions are anyway. And it could even be he had good lawyers that helped him out, or it could even be he really didn’t do anything with criminal intentions and only wanted the best for him whatever that may be. We should not let our selves get carried away with all sorts of fantasies and Dimioinos and instead try to make sure we are all real Yiddin doing our outmost effort to do Kiddush Hashem.
