A fire broke out on the roof of a Queens hospital on Friday, leading to two minor injuries and the evacuation of the emergency room, authorities said.
The blaze at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in the Far Rockaway section was called in shortly after 5 p.m., the Fire Department of New York said.
Video posted on social media showed flames at the top of the building and black smoke billowing into the sky.
Most patients and staff were able to shelter in place, while those in the emergency department were evacuated and ambulances diverted.
The fire was declared under control just before 7 p.m.
