Three Spring Valley firefighters were honored yesterday by their peers for rescuing a disabled man from his burning apartment on a bitterly cold morning last year.
Volunteer firefighters Abraham Lenorovitz, Chaim Rosenberg and Scott Maia, the department’s former chief, received Firefighter of the Year awards from the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association.
As YWN had reported (HERE), Chaim Rosenberg and Abraham Lenorovitz, both volunteer members of the Spring Valley FD, had heroically saved the life of 80-year-old Francis H. Lee in December 07.
The two brave firefighters entered the ground-floor apartment at the four-story Harvest House complex on Union Road, and crawled through Lee’s smoke-filled apartment until they found the disabled man lying unconscious next to his bed.
Rosenberg and Rabinowitz than dragged Lee into a hallway, where CPR was performed on Lee. He was then transported to a hospital.
In April, the two firefighter had been given Al DeFlumere Awards during the “State of the County Address”, by Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef – reported HERE on YWN.
