Mark Gillespie is becoming a name we’re hearing more and more in the music and entertainment industry. His management company Three Six Zero represents a multitude of high-profile clients including Calvin Harris and Jaden Smith. In addition to a number of endeavours in the music industry, Mark has also created a fortified presence in the film industry by producing VOX LUX, starring Natalie Portman, and acquiring Westbrook Entertainment adding Will Smith, Jada and their whole family to Gillespie’s roster. Today we’ll take a closer look at Gillespie’s life, inspiration to enter the music industry, and what his goals are for entertainment giant Three Six Zero.
Mark is originally from Birmingham, UK
Gillespie grew up in the United Kingdom outside Birmingham and quickly became enamoured with the nightlife and specifically the club scene as a teen. He quickly became a successful booking agent, managing the DJ lineup for one of top local nightclubs. Soon, he earned his reputation as an innovator in the music industry and was able to launch his career from his hometown.
Mark Gillespie and Calvin Harris
In 2007, Gillespie launched Three Six Zero, his entertainment and management company. Contemporary to the launch, Calvin Harris was launching his career at the same time with his album I Created Disco debuting in 2007. Mark signed Calvin, creating an invaluable partnership with Three Six Zero. With Harris’ second album earning him a number one spot in the UK charts, Three Six Zero and Mark Gillespie’s success as a manager skyrocketed. Together, Harris and Gillespie have collaborated with major pop stars such as Migos, Frank Ocean, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell Williams and so many more.
Three Six Zero and Westbrook Entertainment
Mark Gillespie recently acquired Westbrook Entertainment, a major talent management agency repping a number of major celebrities including the entire Smith family. This also brings Smith family manager, Miguel Melendez, to the table. Part of what makes Gillespie and Three Six Zero so successful is Mark’s skill in building teams and relationships.
They also received a production credit on the film VOX LUX in 2018, starring Natalie Portman and Jude Law. The score’s original songs are composed by Sia, and the soundtrack also features songs by composer Scott Walker.
Three Six Zero Recordings
In another incredible entrepreneurial venture, Mark Gillespie launched a record label with the bounds of Three Six Zero called Three Six Zero Recordings in 2014. The Sony backed project aims to bring rising UK electronic artists to American audiences.
Mark Gillespie is, no doubt, a force to reckon with in the entertainment management industry. Most notably about his outreach, every venture aims to connect artists and content creators across an ever changing digital landscape. When streaming platforms gained popularity, the music, film and television industries nearly collapsed largely due to artists/creators having no way to actually connect with one another. People like Mark Gillespie and Three Six Zero can help bring value back to music and media by connecting artists to their audiences and, most importantly, to each other.
