Cell phone video taken Monday shows some of the brazen crime that has been driving retailers out of San Francisco.
The video shows that three people used their cellphones to record a man filling a garbage bag with items in a San Francisco Walgreens. But the recordings didn’t discourage the theft, nor did the security guard’s attempt at grabbing the bag.
The man got away with everything on a Lyft bike that he rode down the aisle and out the front door.
The video was taken by Lyanne Melendez, a reporter for KGO-TV in the city, and posted the video on Twitter.

The man is a member of a protected race and any attempts to thwart the thief could lead to serious harm, or at the very least, jail time – for the justice seeker. The police already have learned the hard way not to interfere when a person of that protected race breaks the law.
It is unfortunate that not enough people were around to video this incident, that might have stopped the crime.

I’ve been watching this situation for a while, so I must comment for context. There are Wal-Greens in the area where several people per day just take things off the shelves. Everything is free in the store. Shoplifting is essentially legalized (I hear it is in France too, but I don’t know if it’s at this scale). This person is not the first.
17 Walgreens’ have closed last March due to this.
One day they will blame racism or something for the lack of stores in the city. But Food Deserts and large businesses not being in some neighborhoods are usually because of shoplifting.
