New Ukrainian Extremist Group Threatens Violence Against Jews and Immigrants

ss212.jpgA previously unknown group called the Union of Young Orthodox Ukrainians made antisemitic and racist threats at a press conference in Kiev, according to UCSJ’s Lviv monitor. On June 11, the group held a press conference, during which they stated that, “Ukrianians have the right to any action in defense against the kike occupation and immigrants.” The group’s charter calls for “cleansing from Ukrainian television screens” all “Rabinoviches”–an obvious reference to Jews–and demands a struggle against unspecified forces that supposedly aim to “destroy the Ukrainian culture, religion and nation.”

The emergence of this shadowy group comes at a time of rising anti-minority violence in Ukraine. At the same time, however, Kremlin propagandists have at times staged provocations aimed at discrediting Ukraine in the international media.

  1. Let us not forget that we are still in Galus! Let us not stop improving ourselves and beseeching Hashem for the coming of the Moshiach!

  2. May Hashem end this quickly before it gets out of hand!

Please see comment #33 on the June 13th story of Tim Russert’s passing.

  3. Speaking from firsthand knowledge, the antisemitism in Kiev and the Ukraine is palpable. They don’t even attempt to hid the fast that they hate us. We are very spoiled here in the US. May we continue to be and may all of them disappear.

  4. In a funny way, the disgusting and blatant hatred of the yidden in Ukraine kept us from forgetting that we were Jews although we knew nothing of Yiddishkeit. In fact, when many Jews immigrated to America they were able to conveniently assimilate and unfortunately being Jewish no longer means anything to so many in the younger generation. Just seeing these Ukrainians walking around with their 1 foot crosses sends a chill down my spine. Though I must say, one thing Ukrainians do very well is clean (i.e wash the floor especially). I think that’s their only purpose in the world. I can see no other.

  5. to 4 shadow, I don’t know what experience you have. I’ve lived in Kiev for around half a year, been to Lvov for visit. I would not describe the feeling as palpable, rather subtle and mostly under the surface. This contrasts the feelings in Poland where it is much more open and seething.
