A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for several counties in New York and will be in effect from 1:00PM until 7:00PM. This alert indicates that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Monday started off with mostly cloudy skies and patchy fog. The fog will burn off once the sun comes out. Conditions will then improve slightly, but that will only be temporary as we are anticipating thunderstorms to develop throughout the area in the late afternoon.
These thunderstorms have the potential to become severe, producing strong winds, heavy downpours and small hail. They should persist through the evening hours.
Temperatures will reach a high of 81. Humidity in the morning was 78 percent, and southwest winds will reach speeds of up to 10 mph.
