An Orthodox Jewish man was shot and killed in the heart of the Baltimore Jewish community, late Sunday night.
Police say they received a call at approximately 1:00AM (Monday morning), for reports of a person shot on the 3700 block of Fords Lane.
On scene, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was rushed by EMS to to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as 31 year-old Ephraim Gordan Z”L.
Sources tell YWN that the victim had arrived from Israel for a family wedding which was held on Lag B’Omer. He was visiting the home of family when he was shot. He was reportedly shot while walking into their home.
Misaskim of Baltimore was on the scene and working to ensure proper Kavod HaMes.
Baltimore Shomrim were assisting police with gathering camera footage.

Last night there was a murder on Fords Lane. A 31 year old Orthodox Jewish man who was visiting his family was killed while walking into their house around 1:30 AM. May his Neshama have an Aliyah and his family be comforted.
We are constantly on a unified front working to fight for the safety of the community. It has been, and continues to be, both our top priorities from day one in office. The community has now suffered the ultimate loss from the horrific violence plaguing this City. Our efforts to ensure the safety of our constituents will not only continue, but will increase.
The murderer must be apprehended and prosecuted. Justice must be served. And we must never wake up to anything like this again.

Justice must be served. i.e. Shoot the murderer dead, before he can inflict any more damage or ever be released.
It’s a never ending source of amazement to me how Jews would rather live where there’s minyan rather than where there is safety.
The wealthy people in the community need to step up now and put together money to offer a 100k dollar reward for information that leads to the arrest of these violent thugs. Someone out there likely knows something, and a large monetary reward will hopefully get them to talk to the police.

Arizona- your comment makes no sense…I live in Baltimore and it isn’t the wild west. This is a tragic incident that could’ve happened anywhere. Baltimore has bad areas but we don’t live near them..guess what, so does New York and New Jersey etc..
Honestly I am horrified at the response to this murder by the Baltimore police. There was stronger police presence following the series of car Jackings back in December until the perps were caught. Where are the police? Where is Shomrim? Why does it seem like business as usual? Are they waiting for a string of murders chas v’shalom until there is constant police patrol? There are murderers on the loose, probably part of a gang, and what will stop them from striking again? I’m disappointed in the response. A frum person was killed by just going from his car to the house! Someone posted that they tried calling the police and they had an attitude about it like you have so much police protection all the time, why are you asking for more? This is unacceptable! There was a murder in a part of the city that does not see this level of crime normally!

Perhaps, but I am a solutions-oriented type of a guy.
Is your solution to merely “fetter the access to firearms?” Ask yourself seriously if fettering would have prevented this murder. I think not.
Is your solution to disarm our entire society? I don’t think such a law would have prevented this murder. In the wake of Kayin’s murder of Hevel would you have wanted to outlaw stones (or whatever the murder weapon was)?
Perhaps, you support a law requiring that before someone attempts to murder someone else with a firearm, he must obtain a court order. I don’t think this would be a solution either.
How about a mandatory carry law? Would the assailants in this murder have risked getting blown away if it were likely that their intended victim was packing heat?
By the way, can you make some good guesses about the assailants?
teenage male, no father living at home, incompetent mother (or grandmother) who either does not care that her son is (armed) on the street at midnight (preying on victims) or is unaware of his activity, atrocious school attendance record (before covid), atrocious behavior when he attends school, reading a few years behind grade level, does not do homework, gets 6×9 and 8×7 confused, does not attend any house of worship, is generally incapable of postponing instant gratification, admires flashy-dressing drug dealers, has no concept of right and wrong, believes he is a hunter and we are prey.
