An-early-morning fire in a Lakewood Yeshiva left a Sefer Torah R”L destroyed and the building totally gone.
The fire started just before 3:00AM at Yeshiva Chayei Olam on Faraday, and by the time the Fire Department had arrived, the entire building was fully engulfed in flames.
The Sefer Torah had been inside a safe which unfortunately had fallen through the floor when the building collapsed. The Sefer Torah was removed smoldering and totally destroyed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

That picture of the sefer is a bizayon hatorah. Please take it down.
I actually think it is a kidush hashem the way the likely non Jewish fireman is carrying it out with care.
avadah, shivrei luchot require kevurah. they are hardly a bizayon. ask your LOR.
Fortunately, no one was hurt. I think that picture shows a fireman (not necessarily a yid) holding the sefer torah with treat respect. The article doesn’t say if the yeshiva building had an operating sprinkler or other form of fire suppression system.
Correction: “great respect”
People should clamor to understand what caught fire. I spent years in Yeshiva; was it an overloaded extension cord, a cable installed wrong, or perhaps a phone or charger caught fire.
Sadly, many fires are later found to have had a simple, preventable origin.
