Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, said Monday evening he was extremely worried by former President Donald Trump’s dangerous April suggestion that ingesting disinfectant could possibly be used to treat Covid-19.
“I just said, ‘Oh my goodness gracious.’ I could just see what’s going to happen,” Fauci told CNN’s Erin Burnett on “Out Front” of Trump’s suggestion.
At an April White House news conference, Trump had mused about whether disinfectants could be used to treat the virus in humans — asking whether there is “a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning.”

Wow. So this is what CNN is still obsessed with. Rehashing old stupidity. Fauci was dumb enough to answer the question. I guess he’s got used to sitting around all day, playing cards, and collecting his $417,608.00 yearly salary – the highest in government! We taxpayers fund this UNELECTED beaurocrat.
The fact that Biden can’t find all the vaccines he promised the Nation to deliver within his first 100 days in office, that doesn’t interest CNN and all their tough investigative reporters. Some old comment/joke that a former President made, oh that’s the number one concern now and the Nation is breathlessly waiting to hear the latest development on this ongoing case. CNN should help Dr. Jill find the box of Depends her husband had delivered to the WHITE House.
Many ontegrated/ alternatives MDs use disinfectants such as medical ozone, ultraviolet blood irridation, dilute food grade peroxide and others. Obviously this is done under a health care provider. How about the media talk about all of Fauci’s conflict of interest which can indirectly do alot more harm…and thank you Trump for trying to save lives by mentioning some alternative modalities. Shame on those who mocked it.

What a BRAZEN LIE. Trump did not in any way suggest ingesting disinfectant. Nothing he said could possibly be understood in such a bizarre way. If Fauci really said that, he is simply lying through his lying teeth. If not, then YWN is lying. In fact YWN is lying anyway, because even if Fauci said it, the writer should have fact-checked it immediately, just as s/he purports to do with Trump’s supposed lies. And yes, I know this is AP, but YWN chose to run it, which makes it liable for the content.
Meanwhile Trump’s advocacy of HCQ has been completely vindicated, and Fauci, by dismissing it, is responsible for thousands of deaths that could have been avoided.
Once again, take Trump out of context and imply he said something that he did not.
What happened that day was that they brought in someone who had done research on exposing the Wuhan virus to ultra violet or disinfectant to see it’s effect on the virus. They found both to be extremely effective in killing the virus.
Trump then asked THE REASONABLE QUESTION if they could turn their findings into actual treatments for living patients — and he (Trump) noted that they were going to do more research and look into that.
Trump was NOT stating, suggesting or hinting that people go inject themselves with disinfectant as a possible treatment. He was suggesting that competent scientists and medical research teams take these findings and see if they could develop effective treatments.
In short, he was doing exactly what you would want the President to do — taking scientific research and asking for medical research doctors to see if they can apply that research to actual treatments for actual people during an actual pandemic.
I have always thought the bleach besmirchment was one of the most disgusting “media moments” of the Trump presidency. What say you, @147? What annoys me most about it, is that the good president later defended himself by saying it was facetious or something like that — I guess he thought it looked too bad to stick to the truth. Well, here’s the truth — and it’s obvious to anyone who watches the full video (not just the ones above here) with an honest mind: The president was simply asking if perhaps there was some way to SAFELY utilize the power of UV rays and/or disinfectant to kill the virus. There is NOTHING stupid or unintelligent about a layman — who knows he is not a scientist — merely bringing up a theoretical, unpolished idea in discussion with scientist and advisors. It was a great idea. Perhaps it was completely impractical, wrong, unsafe and/or incorrect; that makes no difference — it was a great thought to bring to the table. Indeed, perhaps one day a scientist will actually find a way to utilize disinfectants to fight disease in the body. Who knows? By the way, there are already positive studies regarding UV rays (but I have no scientific background, so I won’t discuss studies I don’t understand). But people, let’s keep our hairnets on! The president did not, as some in the media have cruelly pretended, suggest that people simply inject themselves with disinfectant. (By the way, to be clear, I’m not saying that Dr. Fauci and the CDC were incorrect to worry that perhaps the president’s words could be misconstrued in a dangerous manner. In fact, I’ll agree that perhaps the president should have raised these points privately. However, that doesn’t mean the president is an idiot.)

When he so quickly dismissed the hydroxy method which trump bought up. without even giving one look at the data, and basically mocking the president for it. Who knows how many hundreds of thousands of lives could have been saved.
So when trump asks one stupid question (which btw most people took it rhetorically) and he blows it up as if nuke man himself revealed to him that he’s gonna press that button.

Actually just watched the full videos again — Trump’s words were even more glatt than I remembered when I wrote my post above. The federal government presenting false data to the American public, as Dr Birx describes, is a cancer in the body politic. Such techniques of propaganda and deception belong in Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, and formerly in Germany. They do not belong in our society. The rest of the democratic world is appalled at what Dr Birx described. When American democracy – the shining light on the hill – begins to crumble, G-d help everyone else.
