Fans of President Donald Trump appear to be leaving Twitter after the website permanently banned the president’s account.
One Twitter user using the hashtag #GoodbyeTwitter wrote “Before I say #GoodbyeTwitter and #HelloParler, I want to ask everyone to Pray for Our President”
The Associated Press reports that Trump’s supporters have been flocking to Parler, GAB, and other “free speech” social media sites known to cater to conservative voices in the past few days.
But Amazon told Parler it will suspend the company’s AWS hosting services access, according to BuzzFeed News. The news comes on the same day that Apple suspended the social media app, which supporters of President Donald Trump and far-right extremists used to plan the January 6th riot at the US Capitol, and one day after Google similarly removed it from the Play Store. The suspension will go into effect on Sunday. Unless Parler can find a new host before then, it will go offline.
“Over the past several weeks, we’ve reported 98 examples to Parler of posts that clearly encourage and incite violence… It’s clear that Parler does not have an effective process to comply with the AWS terms of service. It also seems that Parler is still trying to determine its position on content moderation,” the letter reads. “Because Parler cannot comply with our terms of service and poses a very real risk to public safety, we plan to suspend Parler’s account effective Sunday, January 10th, at 11:59PM PST.”
Parler styles itself as “unbiased” social media and has proved popular with people banned from Twitter.

The first amendment does not apply to private platforms. These are actions by private companies not the government. As Jews we should laud Amazon for taking down Parlor with its hate filled rhetohric much of which is posted by racists and antisemites. Trump has gotten away with spreading lies and conspiracy theories for too long. Sane people in this country are waking up to the horrible danger Trump and his supporters present to us all.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – The number one app in the App Store and Google Play as of Monday is an app many may have never heard of.
It’s called Parler, and it’s known as a place to share thoughts without censorship.
Parler’s CEO announced on the app that two million new accounts were created in one day.
Many high-profile conservative names like Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and Sean Hannity have gained large followings on the site, each of them with more than two million followers.
People in the Grand Strand are using the app as well.
“I have a real problem with censorship in this country,” Chris Koppel said. “We don’t live in a communist country. We live in a country of free speech and should be able to say whatever you want to say.”
The social media site has been around since 2018, but it took off after the election.
Koppel said she joined after Twitter prevented anyone from sharing the link to a New York Post article that accused President-elect Joe Biden of being involved in his son Hunter’s business dealings overseas.
“When I saw what they did at the New York Post, I was astonished that they could do something like that,” Koppel said. “And so I thought, ‘We’ve got to start moving in a direction to be where we can have free speech.’ So yeah, definitely was the tipping point.”
Michelle Loscalzo joined Parler within the last two weeks. She said she first heard about it by listening to Ben Shapiro and Dan Bongino’s podcasts.
“I have personally shared stuff on Facebook that has been immediately taken down because I have posted things about Trump and so Parler is that social media platform to be able to have the freedom of speech to be able to post things without it being taken down immediately,” Loscalzo said.

Although I voted for Trump, I am embarrassed by his infantile non-presidential behavior. As a frum yid to other from yidden, I ask that you smell the coffee and realize that:
1) Biden will become the president, as confirmed by the elector college.
2) Trump is a sore loser.
3) We’re in galus and let’s not get the akum upset at us.
One can always set up independent hosting services. In addition, by taking a political stands, Amazon seriously risks its core business. It is also important to note that in countries in which the media are controlled, independent news sources exist in an underground manner (so we would end up with the internet equivalent of a samizdat which is very hard to restrict). Already it appears that a gap is developing between mainstream media and other sources that leak through (e.g. whether the Covid19 carries any risk of causing illness or other complications – the established media say it is risk-free, and social media block anything to the contrary, yet many people have doubts). Abolishing freedom of expression is a “game changer” in a society, and probably not for the best.
There is no indication that Biden is a Jew hater as there was no indication that there was fraud in the election.
