Williamsburg: Jewish-Owned Business Has Shot Fired Through Window

The NYPD is investigating a shots fired incident at a Jewish-owned business on Walworth Street in Williamsburg.

Sources tell YWN that a the business owner arrived at his establishment on Friday (New Years morning), and noticed the front window broken. The man figured it was caused by fireworks. But tonight, the man took a closer look at the window, and thought it may have been caused by a gunshot.

The man called Williamsburg Shomrim to look, who advised the man that it appeared to be a gunshot.

The NYPD was called, and Detectives are investigating the incident.

  1. It’s not the first time I’ve seen this (and commented), I think it’s terribly disrespectful that Shomrim members are standing together with police officers doing their job and not a single one has the decency to put on a mask! It is disrespectful, selfish and shows a complete lack of caring for the next person. What we do in our shul is one thing, when you’re working with police officers (or anyone for that matter), do the right thing.

  2. How do we know that they didn’t offer to put on masks and the police officers told them not to worry about it? In my experience when I offered the police officers to put on a mask they told me not to worry about it and that they didn’t care and we’re only wearing them so they wouldn’t get fired

  3. So Uncle Mo, you’re saying that it’s understandable that our community puts fellow Yidden in danger but it’s “disrepectful, selfish and shows a complete lack of caring for the next person” when they’re putting others in danger. The chillul Hashem and selfish aspect of not wearing masks is a major problem and I agree 100% that this picture is very disturbing. But what is also disturbing is that you think that doesn’t apply to our fellow Yidden. There is no excuse for the “disrespect, selfishness and lack of caring” that Jews show to other Jews by acting so uncaring about basic COVID precautions in our own community!! As a senior citizen, I shouldn’t have to be extra nervous when I have to go out to run errands or keep appointments at Jewish establishments.

  4. lakewood bubby,

No, I never said anything like that, you put words into my mouth. I live “out of town” where outdoor dining means outdoors. Masks in stores, means on your face not in your car. I feel with you 1000%. I, for one, never enter a store without a mask. Not in NY, not in NJ and not where I live.

I was focusing on a different aspect- that where officers are called to a scene and the ones calling them don’t bother putting on a mask. I didn’t want to get into the general mask issue, there’s too much emotion involved on both sides after nearly a year of this.
