Regular service was set to resume today on the Coach USA/Short Line bus routes where drivers, mechanics and ticket agents have been on strike for nearly two weeks.
Routes in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania were disrupted, affecting about 3,500 hundred riders each day.
In Rockland County, the strike had affected about 750 commuters who use Short Line’s express service from the Exit 14 park and ride lot in Nanuet and another 250 commuters who catch Short Line buses from Suffern to Manhattan.
Company president George Grieve said workers have approved a new three-year contract and that full service will be restored by 3 a.m.
Grieve said the newly approved contract is the same one workers had previously rejected before walking out on strike May 23. He says losses from the strike will probably reach hundreds of thousands of dollars for his Mahwah-based bus service.
