Pair Charged With Voter Fraud Allegedly Submitted THOUSANDS of Fraudulent Applications on Behalf of Homeless People

Two men have been charged in a 41-count criminal complaint for allegedly submitting thousands of fraudulent voter registration applications on behalf of homeless people, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

53-year-old Carlos Antonio De Bourbon Montenegro, aka Mark Anthony Gonsalves, and Marcos Raul Arevalo, 34, were each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit voter fraud, eight counts of voter fraud, four counts of procuring and offering a false or forged instrument and four misdemeanor counts of interference with a prompt transfer of a completed affidavit.

Montenegro faces an additional 10 counts of voter fraud, seven counts of procuring and offering a false or forged instrument, two counts of perjury and five misdemeanor counts of interference with a prompt transfer of a completed affidavit.

The case was filed for warrant on November 12.

Montenegro allegedly submitted more than 8,000 fraudulent voter registration applications between July and October 2020. Montenegro also is accused of falsifying names, addresses and signatures on nomination papers under penalty of perjury to run for mayor in the city of Hawthorne.

The District Attorney did not specify which political party the duo intended to help.

If convicted as charged, Montenegro faces a possible maximum sentence of 15 years and eight months in state prison, while Arevalo faces a possible maximum sentence of seven years in prison.

The Public Integrity Division is prosecuting the case.

The case remains under investigation by the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation. The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s Office, FBI, Covina Police Department and the California Secretary of State’s Office assisted in the initial investigation.

  1. Who wants to bet these guys were working for the DemonRats? I’ll bet a dozen jars of fresh Batempte kosher half-sour pickles they were were working for the Republicans.

  2. Did I miss a YWN article saying how dozens, literally dozens, of Trump cases alleging voting fraud have been thrown out of court? And his lawyers are quitting left, right, and center on him? I can’t find anything about that, yet there is this article about an alleged claim.

  3. Submitted applications, not that the applications were approved, and not that they submitted votes. The main point is that they were caught. Hence we have another excellent example that voting systems work and that those who attempt widespread fraud are apprehended. Yet another example of how Trump’s allegations are baseless lies.

  4. To 147: That’s “Mr. President-Elect, Sleepy Joe” to you.

To MIG: It’s reasonable for homeless people to vote for DemonRats. They are the party that wants to help the homeless. It’s reasonable for the fabulously rich to vote Republican, they are the party that won’t tax them. So, MIG, are you fabulously rich? And please answer my other question, about whether you are getting paid for your posts.
