Pfizer’s announcement that its coronavirus vaccine could be ready for distribution within the next two months was partially “bad news” because it comes before President Trump leaves office, New York governor Andrew Cuomo said on Monday morning.
“The good news is the Pfizer tests look good and we’ll have a vaccine shortly. The bad news is that it’s about two months before Joe Biden takes over and that means this administration is going to be implementing a vaccine plan,” Cuomo told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America. “The Trump Administration is rolling out the vaccination plan and I believe it’s flawed. I believe it learns nothing from the past.”
Cuomo has previously stated he would be skeptical of a vaccine approved by the Food and Drug Administration during Trump’s tenure.
“What I said I’m going to do in New York is we’re going to put together our own group of doctors and medical experts to review the vaccine and the efficacy and the protocol, and if they say it’s safe, I’ll go to the people of New York and I will say it’s safe with that credibility,” Cuomo said in mid-October. “But I believe, all across the country, you are going to need someone other than this FDA and this CDC saying it’s safe.”

Why are you putting words in Coumo’s mouth which he did not say? He said that he wants to be sure that its approval is not rushed before safety and efficacy is ensured.
on January 21 the FDA and CDC will be run by the same people as are running it now.

Cuomo said the bad news is that it is 2 months before Biden becomes president, not that it is bad news that Pfizer announced the vaccine before Biden became president. Kind of a key difference.
The way the clickbait title is written, makes it seem Cuomo would rather no vaccine until Biden becomes president.
The way he actually phrased it, he wants Biden to be president sooner.

It has nothing to do with hatred. It has to do with competency. Pfizer was not part of Operation Warp Speed. They did make a distribution deal with HHS to deliver vaccine, but unlike moderna that took billions from the govt Pfizer did not take money. The vaccine won’t be ready to be distributed for a while and basic mitigating factors should still be practiced but the President is busy not trying to stop the spread of the disease. Average 2000 people are dying/day.

Cuomo seems to have Zero communications skills even when he has a valid point to make. On 60 Minutes last night, the General appointed by Trump to coordinate vaccine distribution acknowledged that roughly 50 percent of MEDICAL professionals who would be prioritized to get the vaccine first have indicated a desire to so and he feared the acceptance rate in the general population might be even lower. There are many reasons for such skepticism within the general public on taking a vaccine, most of which were around BEFORE Trump. However, by originally promising a vaccine the week before the election, pressuring the FDA to grant EUAs for some questionable drugs and protocols and trashing the reputations of government scientists and public health experts who the public DO TRUST, he has no doubt stoked the anti-vaccine sentiments already out there. He clearly intended to make the vaccine a political issue and another campaign prop.
Cuomo should have said, he will work with state health officials to assure the vaccines approved and distributed by the FDA in the next 60 days are safe (which I believe they are) rather than implying a delay until a new FDA commissioner is appointed by Biden would have been preferable in terms of public trust.
As others have correctly noted, the headline for this article is egregiously misleading.
There are plenty of good reasons for disliking Governor Cuomo, but the implication that he does not want good vaccine news to happen during the last days of the Trump administration is utterly false. You don’t like Cuomo? Come up with some good reasons, but don’t make them up.

Vaccines are theory and forced vaccination is against international law and is an assault to personal autonomy. They all have side-effects–many quite substantial. They also work to force the immune system to respond in counter-intuitive ways that are not healthy. Whether you believe in vaccines in general or not, they should not be forced on the population, and unfortunately, this seems to be what is being planned for us currently…

Meanwhile there is nothing here about Mike Pence lying about the vaccine. Pence falsely took credit for it. In fact, Pfizer declined to participate in Operation Warp Speed and ran the clinical trial itself. It owns the vaccine along with its German partner Biontech, a company founded by the children of Turkish guest workers. The vaccine is a triumph of free market capitalism, globalism, and immigration, all things that Trump hates. (Pfizer itself was founded by immigrants to the US from Germany in the 19th century.)
How does this BUFOON have the Audacity to say that Trump denied Covid when he was casually giving Press Conferences every day in March-May when 700-800 ppl were dying DAILY in NYS. Including Thousands of seniors that were direct result of his flawed policies. He should bury his head in shame and apologise to his victims families before he opens his mouth. Trump & Federal Govt. tried all they can to help NYS deal with Covid but Cuomo refused they’re assistance so Trump shouldn’t get any credit.
