ELECTION DRAMA: Trump Sues In Pennsylvania, Michigan; Asks For Wisconsin Recount

The Trump campaign said it filed lawsuits Wednesday in Pennsylvania and Michigan, laying the groundwork for contesting the outcome in undecided battleground states that could determine whether President Donald Trump gets another four years in the White House.

Suits in both states are demanding better access for campaign observers to locations where ballots are being processed and counted, the campaign said. The campaign also is seeking to intervene in a Pennsylvania case at the Supreme Court that deals with whether ballots received up to three days after the election can be counted, deputy campaign manager Justin Clark said.

The campaign said it is calling for a temporary halt in the counting in both states until it is given “meaningful” access in numerous locations and allowed to review ballots that already have been opened and processed. Trump is running slightly behind Democratic nominee Joe Biden in Michigan. The president is ahead in Pennsylvania but his margin is shrinking as more mailed ballots are counted.

Pennsylvania had 3.1 million mail-in ballots that take time to count and an order allows them to be counted up until Friday if they are postmarked by Nov. 3.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in a CNN interview the lawsuit was “more a political document than a legal document.”

“There is transparency in this process. The counting has been going on. There are observers observing this counting, and the counting will continue,” he said.

The campaign also said it would ask for a recount in Wisconsin, a state The Associated Press called for Biden on Wednesday afternoon. Campaign manager Bill Stepien cited “irregularities in several Wisconsin counties.”

The Biden campaign didn’t immediately comment on the new lawsuits in Michigan or Pennsylvania over access for campaign observers.

But the campaign has been seeking donations for what it is calling the “Biden Fight Fund.”

“Our legal team is standing by, and they will prevail,” campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon wrote in a fundraising email sent to supporters earlier Wednesday.

The actions came as elections officials counted votes in several undecided states that are crucial to the outcome of the presidential election.

The former vice president’s campaign meanwhile welcomed the ongoing vote count and a Biden campaign attorney said they are ready for any legal fight. And Michigan Democrats said the suit was a longshot.

  1. He was ahead both Wisconsin and Michigan last night at 2 am by over 100k each BUT magically between 3AM and 6AM he was down by a few thousand

We knew FRAUD WOULD BE AN ISSUE, but who would have thunk they do it so blatantly

  2. this is absolutely awful! I was up all night watching, at 3:00 Trump was still leading everything-he said in a statement that he’s winning….then Wisconsin said that they won’t complete the counting tonight-suddenly from one minute to the next it flipped over to Biden. this smells awfully of fraud! all my grandparents voted by mail and they’re all republican, so saying that all mail is for Biden is simply NOT true! I have a feeling they just burnt all Trump ballots….Trumps people weren’t allowed to watch the counting

  3. They did not find ballots. All the ballots being counted were there before nov 3 or came on election day. What Trump is doing is despicable.
“The strategy of the Trump campaign is not to accomplish anything, it is to sow the chaos… He has signaled this, that his main goal is to make people think he’s not a loser, that this was stolen from him… because it’s crucial for his ego” – @SykesCharlie

  4. The reason the ballots were found for Biden because yesterday’s ballots were counted first, so these were early, absentee and mailed-in ballots. These came from Democrats as Trump recommended to Republcans to vote in person.

  5. Jewliani will get to the bottom of this. Josh Shapiro, yemach shemo, is no match for Jewliani. Not sure why they don’t just award Biden the senate seat he said last week he was campaigning for and keep the president president.

  6. Mail in ballots were used overwhelmingly by democrats, follow the news and it shouldn’t be such a surprise. It’s been Trumps playbook to try to undermine our electoral process so that when he loses he can claim there was a problem even when there is none. Challenging voters at the polls or disputing the legitimacy of mail-in ballots isn’t about fraud. Republicans are trying to exclude votes
In a democracy every vote counts not just the ones in your favor. BYEDON
