A member of Flatbush Shomrim was assaulted Monday evening while on patrol, YWN has learned.

The Shomrim unit had apparently witnessed a man breaking into cars in the vicinity of Avenue P and East 15th Street, and called for back-up and the NYPD to respond. When a second Shomrim member arrived, the two members approached the man – and before they could say anything to him – assaulted the Shomrim member with a screwdriver.

Dozens of Shomrim units arrived in seconds, and apprehended the man, and the NYPD placed the man under arrest for assault, and a slew of other charges.

Flatbush Hatzolah transported the Shomrim member to Lutheran Trauma Center, where he is Boruch Hashem OK – besides for some facial trauma.
