8:45AM EST: A crane has collapsed in Manhattan at East 91st Street and 1st Avenue. According to initial reports, the crane was on a 22 story building. There is two confirmed fatalities, another person transported to the hospital, and another heavily trapped in the rubble. FDNY and NYPD are desperately attempting to extricate the trapped victim. The NYPD has called for a Level 1 response, nearby structures have been evacuated, and a search is underway for additional victims.

Expect heavy delays in the area, and on the FDR Drive.

According to eyewitnesses, the top portion of the crane suddenly snapped off.

Just two months ago, seven people were killed in a Manhattan crane collapse (reported HERE).
