DEBLASIO MADNESS: Tells New Yorkers Not To Buy Cars [VIDEO]

Mayor Bill de Blasio told New Yorkers Thursday they don’t need to buy a new car.

“The future of New York City is less about the car,” de Blasio said. “I’m never going to own a car again.”

De Blasio — who is chauffeured around New York City in a tax dollar-funded SUV — advised New Yorkers Thursday not to fear the subways amid the global novel coronavirus pandemic.

“My advice to New Yorkers is, ‘Do not buy a car,” de Blasio said. “Cars are the past, the future is going to be mass transit, biking, walking.”

  1. I hate him as much as the next guy, but a majority of his response made perfect sense. Yea, that line about him never buying a car again was dumb, but the rest was fine.

  2. Typical liberal (lev arul) thinks only about himself. He says ” He will never buy a car” of course not. He ‘s chauffeured around. In addition even if not, how far is the subway from his home and to work? What about people who have large families or people that work far from a subway. When I got married I didn’t get a car, but there comes a time when you have a family and it becomes difficult to fit your schedule to a transit system or car services who often don’t show up when you call.

  3. As long as deBlasio and the left have a stranglehold on power in the city, the city is the past and the car has a future wherever it it that people are moving to.

  4. Most people hope to grow older and old.
Anybody that works for a living and does not collect has little time for just walking.
Anybody that gets older knows there are times it is harder to walk past age 50, 60 or older.
    Bike riding has inherent risks.

I refuse to let my daughter meet anybody that does not know how to drive. Imagine needing to run back and forth to a Dr with children without driving.

  5. If he really wants to have people use mass transit, bike, and walk, he should make mass transit tolerable and find a way to let bicycles and cars coexist better.

  6. The headline is very unfair to the mayor. He wants us all to revert to the lifestyle of the alte heim where our grandparents, and great-grandparents relied upon a small horse-drawn wagon for all their transportation needs. Aside from emulating the pure lifestyle of the alte heim, a horse drawn wagon is much more environmentally friendly than a noisy, gas-guzzling, and greenhouse gas emitting SUV. His Honor is thinking of tikun olam. So should all New Yorkers.

  7. Since it isn’t practical for everyone to walk or ride a bike for many reasons, (age, lack of tsnius for women to ride a bike, bad weather, having children with you etc.) People would gave to go back to horses and buggies. Where would all thise horses be stabled. Who’s going to clean up after all those horses? It’s not very realistic of the ferd himself to expect this of New Yorkers.

  8. On what city streets should we walk? The ones that are defiled with murals and graffiti? No thanks, I rather take a car and stay out of trouble. Let the horse of the Gracie Mansion Stable ride a horse.
