In response to New York City’s Black Lives Matter murals – done as nods to the growing nationwide anti-racism movement – two police advocacy groups are asking Mayor Bill de Blasio for their chance to make a statement of their own.
The groups want to paint the words “Blue Lives Matter” on the street next to 1 Police Plaza in Lower Manhattan, a refrain used by those in the law enforcement community calling attention to the dangers police officers face each day on the job. They also suggested using the area at Broadway and West 45th Street in midtown as an alternative location.
Those groups, Blue Lives Matter NYC and Standing Up for NYC, wrote a letter to de Blasio, saluting him for supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and his attempts to bring awareness to systemic racism, while also hoping they can get a tribute of their own.

De Blasio isn’t going to allow it, there will be a lawsuit, and they are going to win because he allowed the BLM one so now by not allowing it he is suppressing their free speech.
I love the story! He’s now in check-mate! I dare him to disallow it although, in my opinion, the mayor and his black cronies; ie. Sharpton and company, defaced city property with legal permits to make their statement!
I feel that this is a wonderful idea and totally support New York’s finest.
There are and always will be a rotten apple in a basket and the police departments in America is no different.
All that that socialist Deblasio is doing is just adding wood to the fire with his remarks and new laws. The people of New York have a right to live in peace and be protected from the thugs, rioters, and murderers who Deblasio is sporting and defending. The man should be removed from office immediately before more damage is done.
With that said it should also be better known the Cuomo, the man who by putting corona patients in nursing homes instead of either corona hotels or the medical ship Trump proved to New York, thus causing the death of many senior citizens, should be arrested and indicted for mass murder. The U.S. Government provided and he ignored it stating that the elderly have to die sometime anyway.
Cuomo may live to get old some day and when that day does come I wish him a very horrible and painful death for his actions.
There is no such thing as Blue Lives Matter, the “blue” is the color of the shirt they wear to do a job. They can remove the shirt, they can switch jobs. A black person will always be black.

Why should they? It’s an honorable and necessary job, unlike anything you or anyone you associate with does.

So what? What has that got to do with anything? The fact is that blue lives are under attack. Black lives are NOT. Nobody is going around killing black people for being black. In fact the only ones going around killing black people are other black people. But people, many of them black, are attacking policemen every day, and that has to be stopped with all force necessary. If it takes killing 100 or 1000 thugs, then that should be done. Because the lives of violent people who attack policemen DON’T matter. Thug lives don’t matter. Thugs who attack other people deserve to die, and those who shout that it’s “our streets” and not the police’s streets are waging war against our whole society, and deserve to die.

It depends whether the BLM one was done by the city itself, or by an outside group with the city’s permission. If the city gave an outside group permission to paint that sign, then it must give other groups similar permission. It cannot discriminate by viewpoint. But if the city itself created the BLM sign, then that is the city expressing its own opinion, and it doesn’t have to allow anyone else to use its streets to give a contrary opinion.
@WgFPD2: Call it what you want. It’s the BLMs that call law enforcement blue, even if their skin is black. They use it to call blacks traitors to the black cause by being blue.
