Twitter has slapped another label on a tweet by President Donald Trump, this time warning that a video he shared was doctored and escalating the social media company’s crackdown on one of its most widely followed users.
After Trump tweeted the video late Thursday, Twitter took the rare step of adding a warning that it was “manipulated media” and linked to a page that said multiple journalists confirmed the clip was edited to make it look like a CNN broadcast. The video remains visible in Trump’s timeline.
The doctored clip used footage from a video that went viral last year of two toddlers, one black, one white, which this station used for a story it did on the boys’ friendship.
The video Trump shared begins with footage of the boys running set to ominous music, with a fake misspelled CNN caption reading, “Terrified todler runs from racist baby.” Then it cuts to other footage from the original video of the boys excitedly running to each other and hugging, which formed the basis of the original CNN story, before showing the message, “America is not the problem. Fake news is.”

It’s the latest salvo in the battle between Trump and tech companies, which he has accused of silencing conservative voices. Trump lashed out at Twitter last month after it added fact-check warnings to two of his tweets on mail-in voting, and vowed to add new regulations to rein in social media companies.
Twitter in March used the “manipulated media” warning to mark a video of Biden shared by President Donald Trump.

Twitter have just made fools of themselves. They’re pretending that Trump seriously claimed CNN had actually shown this footage. Of course it didn’t, and Trump didn’t claim it did. This is an obvious parody, showing graphically what CNN does all the time. Everyone who saw it got it, even the lefties who pretend to be outraged at this “manipulation” .
All this does is discredit the “manipulated media” tag, which could have been useful. The first time they used it they were right. Biden didn’t endorse Trump, not even by accident. The video claiming that he did was deliberately edited to create a false impression. But after this that tag is meaningless.
Long overdue. They should block these manipulated ads from BOTH sides and insist on some degree of veracity in the media and postings allowed on their platforms. The media consultants for both the R’s and D’s have concluded that in a crowded online media world they have to use the most extreme and obnoxious visuals to gain attention amid the clutter. The Trumpkopfs seem to have a propensity to adopt far-right, white supremacist language, memes and symbols and when called out, claim they “weren’t aware” of the association or meaning. They aren’t that dumb and obviously enjoy trolling the left through the use of these symbols. On the other hand, the Ds seem to have memory loss and publish “feel good” ads without context or substance and lame efforts to appear politically sensitive (aka Pelosi and House leadership wearing African Kente Cloth “talesim” at a press briefing on the new “police brutality” legislation.

Now, let’s see someone manipulate a Fox News video and twitter labels it too. that’s the test to see if they are fair.
