KIDDUSH HASHEM: Nation Guardsman In Los Angeles Praises Orthodox Jews [VIDEO]

Watch this video and see how the Los Angeles Orthodox Jewish community made an incredible Kiddush Hashem this past week.

As YWN has been reporting, the National Guard was deployed in Los Angeles to deal with the riots following the black lives matter protests which spiraled out of control, and turned into all out looting of businesses.

The Jewish community has been dropping off food and drinks, and allowing them to use the bathroom at a nearby Chabad House.

YWN has publish dozens of videos and photos of Orthodox Jews delivering food and cards to Police Departments all around the nation, as they show their unwavering support while they come under attack.

  1. 1. No restroom is worse. It leads to all kinds of unhygienic behavior as the need for relief becomes more and more urgent.

    2. It’s not sycophancy. It is a refusal to dehumanize the police with broad brushstrokes based on the abhorrent behavior of a very small demographic within the ranks. It is a Kiddush Hashem because they turned the other cheek and reached out with gestures of support and encouragement in spite of the fact police haven’t always treated the Hasidic community with kindness and respect.

  2. @PleaseStayCalm: And when an armed burglar shows up at your home, you’re not going to call those “brutes”. Right?

  3. PleaseStayClam, I believe that there are number of good answers to your question. (And I am going to ignore your characterization of Mentchlichkeit and good-neighborliness as sycophancy, which strikes me as disingenuous.) Here are three points to ponder:
Firstly, the police fill a crucial role. If not for them, as Chazal say, Ish Es Re’ehu Chayim Bela’o.
Secondly, is every policeman just a big bully? Many to most do what they do because they are motivated at least in part to help people. This is worthy pf respect and appreciation.
Thirdly, let’s say you’re right. Would you rather cultivate a strong healthy relationship with a brute who is in a position of authority, or fall hard upon moral grounds?

  4. Have a smile ….. well ghffhhh, if they wouldn’t have so much coffee, they wouldn’t need the restroom so much!

  5. Pleasestaycalm, right…. real brutes. Because during the course of the year its the protesters that are guarding our shuls, standing protection in front of our day schools and yeshivas, and responding to horrific antisemitic attacks (like the Monsey Channuka attack). Wake up and show some hakaros native for the behind the scenes of life that Hashem does for us, and which law enforcement does for us. Because at the end of the day the protesters won’t be rushing out to save or protect a frum institution.

  6. @pleasestaycalm. The police save lives and if not for them the kehilla in LA would be in smitherines, so please have some appreciation for people who protect other Jews. What is annoying though is the fact that YWN publish every kiddush hashem story as if its some chiddush. It’s a funny thing to do. The Christians and Muslims don’t do it so why do you! Yidden do good things 24/7.

  7. @PleaseStayCalm So I’m sure when someone breaks into your house, you don’t hesitate to call the Department of Environmental Protection to help you out?

  8. כי אתן אתכם לשם ולתהילה לכל עמי הארץ בשובי את שבותיכם לעיניכם אמר ה

  9. The orthodox Jewish community did not allow the National Guard to use the Chabad House bathroom. Chabad allowed it. Give credit where credit is due, and maybe show more respect for Chabad.

  10. @PleaseStayCalm You answered your own question. It’s NOT sycophancy, and (therefore) IT IS indeed a kiddush Hashem. Btw, he’s with the National Guard, who put their lives on the line to protect YOU, even while you back-stab them, “cuz that’s what’s ‘in style’ nowadays”. IMHO the least we can do for them is offer basic stuff like coffee and restrooms.

P.S. The vast majority of police officers are not brutes, or anything close to it. duh!

  11. well, its a win win situation. you give him the coffee and then you give him the bathroom. drinking coffee makes you go. and when you gotta go you gotta go. so basicallly he made a Kiddush Hashem by giving him coffee, but then mitsva goreres mitsva, the coffee made him go. so he was zoiche to another kiddush Hashem. Amazing

  12. Ywn seems to be of the opinion that kiddish hashem depends on goyim, but this is a mistake. in Mishnah Reb Ahron he writes that a boy in a Yeshiva practically any action he does falls under either chillul or kiddish hashem being he is doing his actions berabim. If ywn loves kiddish hashem so much then there should be articles about kiddish hashem when no goy is involved. unless of course we are so insecure with ourselves and we care mostly what a Goy thinks of us. In that case it’s not about kiddish hashem but that you find favor in goyims eyes. Kiddish hashem is about finding favor in hashems eyes.

  13. “PleaseStayCalm”: National Guard, not police. Thank G-d for 99% of the police–they keep us safe. Bad cops should be gotten rid of, just as bad teachers should be gotten rid of. Unions stand in the way, however.
