Tragedy struck Boro Park on Tuesday morning, when a woman was R”L struck and killed by a truck.
It happened just before 12:00PM, when a 68-year-old woman was struck by a cement truck on New Utrecht Avenue near 49th Street.
Boro Park Hatzolah rushed to the scene and found the woman in traumatic arrest. There was nothign they could do to save her life, and she was unfortunately Niftar on the scene.
The Niftar was later identified as Mrs. Fraidel Weider A”H. Her husband is R’ Avrohom Wieder, a Skverer Chosid.
Misaskim and Chesed Shel Emes were on the scene dealing with the Kavod Haniftar.
The Levaya was scheduled for tonight at 8:00PM at the Skverer Bais Medrash, 5321 12th Avenue.
The NYPD is on the scene and a prolonged investigation is underway. Expect heavy traffic in the area as the street will be closed for hours.

I don’t know if it was a factor in the accident, but that entire intersection from 49th street and12th ave thru 12th ave 50th street /NewUtrich ave has to be one of the worst intersections in New York. If you are on 12th ave and 50 and want to make a left onto 50th st or onto New utrich Ave you can find yourself not knowing if you have the green light or red light.
My suggestion to DOT would be to make 12 ave one way between 49th a nd New Utrich Ave twards the 40s Cars going towards the 50 should have to make a right turn on 49th
these drivers are reckless, they speed with their 5 ton trucks like its a derby race.
I saw a clip from a dash cam. Unfortunately, the driver is not at fault at all. Let’s not blame before we see it with our own eyes. It was a horrible accident, but once again the driver was not at fault at ALL!

This truck was stopped at the red light. He was not speeding. He actually didn’t do anything wrong, he could not have seen that there was a person in front of his truck.
He was obviously a Shaliach from Hashem, for a bad thing to come thru his actions.

None of those issues mentioned above was the cause.
What they need to do is like kikar hashabbos. Where at one point everyone can cross from all directions. And as long as the cars go all hands should be red from all directions.
The DOB should have a law that all cement be meet at the site the problem is that the the reason that the trucks are speeding and it’s not good that they’re speeding and they shouldn’t be speeding the reason that there is speeding is because they need to get the cement to the site with a certain level of Psy the cement has to dry and be tested at the side there’s to do test tubes so no driver wants to be responsible and go all the way back to the cement factory and lose money. So Leigh billing department should maybe look into meet the cement at the site because these trucks are going to speed I know if it’s necessarily the lights at that corner of the intersection the concrete trucks will speed because they don’t want to take a chance of having the cement dry in the truck to such a point that it cannot be used many times they send trucks back they check it at the site now that they don’t do it to test how many times at the site before they pour a look at it the manager they will say good or bad if it’s bad it goes back
