This past Tuesday the BPJCC, in conjunction the Luach Hatzibur, held a highly successful Job expo, specifically geared to meet the needs of the Boro Park community. The event had separate hours for men and women, employers from Boro Park and surrounding neighborhoods, resume writers and other work related professionals. Over 500 people attended in search of suitable employment opportunities.
The Lipschitz hall was set up beautifully to accommodate the expo with many tables and booths for the various businesses and professionals. Attendees were welcomed in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Employers talked about their businesses and explained what type of job opportunities they have. Many had printed pamphlets to distribute to potential employees with more detailed explanations of their job requirements.
Attendees took their time exploring their options, writing new resumes, updating existing ones and talking to professionals for guidance as to what would be suitable for them. Many, who submitted resumes at the expo already had interviews and are starting new jobs, hopefully with much success.
The turnout at the expo was higher than anyone had anticipated. It was also interesting to note the variety of people who attended and the disparity of age groups. There were young adults looking to start out, older people looking for new opportunities and many in between who want to switch careers or return to work after being unemployed for various reasons.
At the BPJCC Headquarters, both employers and potential employees left positive feedback regarding the job expo. Many attendees are requesting further assistance in finding suitable sources of income, which is one of the keys to stability and serenity.
Very sizeable crowds attended the business forums held by Rabbi Yidel Melber of Mechon Lehasig and Mr. Chaim Pikarski, CEO of C+A Global. Both imparted great advice and tips on how to do well at an interview, how to find the right type of job and how to navigate the business relationships between the employee, employer and coworkers to the satisfaction of all involved. Attendees paid rapt attention and absorbed every word as the speakers advised on how to persevere in the face of challenging beginnings.
Mr. Avi Greenstein introduced the popular speakers and gave a short introduction about the activities of the BPJCC and the role of Luach Hatzibur in helping people find employment via their popular daily-classified section.
The job expo was a great beginning but certainly not the end, of the BPJCC’s effort to help the Boro Park community. The BPJCC Workforce Program operates every day of the year. We offer free career training and job placement services to the community. We are exploring different ways in which we can expand our services and we welcome comments and input from community members.
