A suspect wanted in the recent string of egging attacks against Hasidic Jews in Boro Park has been arrested.
The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force (HTCF) made the announcement on Twitter saying “APPREHENDED!!! HCTF has arrested an 18 year old male in connection with multiple anti-Semitic egg throwing assaults.”
Mohib Hoquq, 18-years-old, residing at 115 Avenue C in Brooklyn was arrested and charged with:
- Hate Crime Assault (3 Counts)
- Hate Crime Aggravated Harassment (3 Counts)
- Hate Crime Harassment 1st (3 Counts)
- Hate Crime/Reckless Endangerment 2nd
The NYPD is still looking for additional suspects wanted in at least five separate attacks, including one where an egg was thrown inside a Shul whose door had been opened. Other attacks included a mother who was walking with her young child.
As YWN previously published, much information that led to the identity of the suspect(s), including video footage of the attacks, as well as license plate numbers in recent attacks, was secured by the dedicated volunteers of Boro Park Shomrim, who worked diligently alongside police.

Councilman Chaim Deutsch, Chairman of the NYC Council Jewish Caucus gave the following statement to YWN:
“I am thankful for the swift work of the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force in apprehending a suspect in last weekend’s anti-Semitic egg attacks.
We are sending a clear message that hatred and bias of any kind will not be tolerated in New York City. No stone will be left unturned in the pursuit of the perpetrators. I will continue to partner with my colleagues to push for harsher penalties in these cases.
Boro Park Shomrim, as well as Councilman Kalman Yeger and Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, and other community leaders deserve enormous credit for their vigilance and persistence as we face a rise in hate crimes here in NYC, and specifically in Boro Park.
I am committed to continuing to fight for the resources we need to combat hate, including education in schools, additional police coverage, and aggressive penalties.”

The BP Shomrim seem to do an amazing job collaborating with police catching these perps.
I wish we had resources like that in Lakewood. 13 consecutive weeks homes have been burgalized… Months after 130+ tires were slashed (including mine) and our finest can’t seem to catch anyone.
Some judge will make him write a 3 paragraph essay on why its not nice to throw eggs at people, give him 90 days probation and he’ll be back on the streets. Next time we hear from this guy it will be because he shot someone.
