yw logo6.jpg*A new takeoff pattern aimed at easing congestion at Newark Liberty International Airport has confused some pilots and led to several incidents in which planes turned in the wrong direction, according to the union that represents air traffic controllers.

*State Senator Eric Adams is calling for action after a white officer is punished following a confrontation with the NYPD’s highest ranking uniformed black officer. Adams wants to reform how officers handle pedestrian stops, especially involving minorities.

*Passaic, NJ Mayor Samuel Rivera, a former police officer, pleaded guilty Friday to attempted extortion, admitting he accepted $5,000 in cash to influence government contracts. He resigned as mayor, effective at 5 p.m. Friday – and was replaced by ‘Frum’ Passaic City Council President, and Assemblyman Gary S. Schaer.

*There was a drive-by shooting at the Rose Castle Chasunah Hall (Williamsburg) last night at approximately 12:30AM. There was no one hurt, but the front glass is reportedly shattered. The fight possibly involved two gangs, and the NYPD is investigating.

*1010WINS is reporting that the family of a 4-year-old has filed a lawsuit against the child’s teacher for taping the girl’s mouth shut at school. The lawsuit in Queens Supreme Court says Angela Amedeo had her mouth sealed shut with Scotch tape for 10 minutes because the child spoke during “quiet time.” The incident occurred this past summer at Flushing Fields Play School.

*A Bronx man is suing the police. He claims he was falsely arrested after officers learned he had the same name as a West African immigrant killed by police in 1999 – “Amadou Diallo”.

*Authorities have found no evidence of arson in a fire early Tuesday that gutted four units of Lakewood’s new low-income housing complex (NJ Hand).The cause, however, has not been determined, says Lakewood PD Detective Steven Wexler.

*Several lanes on the George Washington Bridge were closed on Sunday morning – after thousands of vials of human blood spilled onto the roadway. The cleanup began at around 7:00AM EST, with Port Authority Police crews donning biohazard gear to avoid contamination.

*NY State senator Eric Adams said he’ll propose a new law on Monday that will help the public report gas stations that are price gouging or not meeting state gas standards.
