White House officials sought to “lock down” records of a phone call in which US President Donald Trump urged his Ukrainian counterpart to investigate Democratic rival Joe Biden, according to a secret whistleblower complaint made public today.
The document is released ahead of scheduled testimony from Joseph Maguire, the acting director of national intelligence.
House Democrats who are now mulling Trump’s impeachment are hoping Maguire will explain why he withheld the intelligence community whistleblower’s complaint from Congress for weeks. Maguire will then go behind closed doors to speak to the Senate intelligence panel.
Lawmakers have been given a redacted, declassified version of the complaint that can be made public.
The complaint is at least in part related to the July phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which Trump prodded Zelensky to investigate former US vice president Biden. The White House released a rough transcript of that call Wednesday morning.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday endorsed an impeachment investigation in light of the Ukraine revelations.

Abuse of power by trump, plain, simple and clear. The extreme efforts to cover it up because they knew it was an abuse by removing it from the server that such communications are normally stored to another specifically for top secret items is clear. (And republicans were up in arms about Hillary’s deleted personal emails, this is certainly not any different, and actually far worse.)
This is a person privy to such information. The fact that they did not personally witness the events is completely meaningless. When a murder occurs, police and detectives who did not witness the murder, investigate and bring the murderer to justice based on evidence and other witness accounts.
Giuliani is acting illegally as an agent of the government. He claims the State Department approved his involvement, so give the name or names of those who approved it to investigators.
Trump says Barr is involved and Barr says he wasn’t, who’s telling the truth?
Far more serious and corrupt than Watergate.
I find this very troubling and suspect that this is the beginning of the end of the Trump Presidency.
This sounds serious
After so called whistleblower’s statement “I Was Not A Witness To Any Of It”” the whole “report” should be tossed out into toilet.
In 2022, i President Warren did the same thing in an effort to establish that ex-President Trump and his kids were engaged in corruption, would any Democrats complain? Did any Democrats object when Clinton took a document she claimed was prepared by the Russian intelligence service accusing Trump of disgusting behavior, leaked it to the press, and used it to ask a Federal court to wiretap the Trump campaign?
If Biden’s son did something that would put his father in a “tricky situation”, like being susceptible to corruption for example when he was in office, then Trump was absolutely correct to highlight this fact, to push to have it investigated and exposed, in fact, it was commendable of President Trump to do this.
President Trump:”There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it… It sounds horrible to me.”
We wouldn’t want a person in any USA office to be “indebted” or biased due to a “favor” like “stopping the prosecution”, do we? No, we do not!
