But the atmosphere on Capitol Hill started shifting following a whistleblower complaint that centered in part on Trump’s call with the Ukrainian president, but is also said to include other events.
Trump has suggested he brought up Biden and his son Hunter in the phone call as part of discussions over corruption in Ukraine — despite no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of either man. He also confirmed on Tuesday that he ordered advisers to freeze $400 million in military aid to Ukraine in the days before the phone call, prompting Democrats to charge that he was holding out the money as leverage for information on Biden.
Trump has sought to implicate Biden and his son in the kind of corruption that has long plagued Ukraine. Hunter Biden served on the board of a Ukrainian gas company at the same time his father was leading the Obama administration’s diplomatic dealings with Kyiv. Though the timing raised concerns among anti-corruption advocates, there has been no evidence of wrongdoing by either the former vice president or his son.

What is one to make of this? Should someone running in an election be immune from investigation? In defending Biden against accusations of forcing Ukraine to fire its prosecutor Shokin in order to help his own son escape prosecution, rolling stone (for one example) states things like:

And answer honestly the following question. What would these same Democrats have to say if instead of Biden and his own son being the ones connected to Ukraine, it was Trump and his own son being the targets while a President Biden had pressured Ukraine to investigate corruption? In fact, we do have a real life example of a very “similar” scenario. The DNC (and maybe also the Hillary Clinton campaign) pressured Ukraine to investigate (as example) one Paul Manafort, at the time (2016) connected to the Trump campaign. But the investigation was about what Manafort had (possibly) done years before, around 2003-2004 until 2010, and a short stint in 2014.
I’d say withholding money needed for defense is indeed pressure, and giving an additional $140 million once released is a bribe!

Whichever way you look at it, one thing is sure: However serious you think Trump’s offense is, Biden’s offense must be greater. Biden is the one who threatened to cut off $1B from the Ukraine if they did not call off their investigation into his crooked son. That’s not an allegation, it’s a fact. We have the recording in which he bragged about it. Now Trump is alleged to have done the exact same thing, to force the Ukranians to restart the investigation that Biden improperly had stopped. In other words to fix what Biden broke.
Even if the allegation is 100% true, it is IMPOSSIBLE to claim this makes Trump unfit to be president without at the same time saying that Biden is unfit too. Anyone calling for impeachment MUST declare that if Biden gets the Dem nomination they will not support him. Anyone who can’t do that has no right to denounce Trump for (allegedly) doing the exact same thing.

Read the transcripts that just have been released by Trump. This is exactly what Trump was doing. He urged Ukrainian government to cooperate closed AG Barr and DOJ to get to the bottom of Biden and his son corruption in Ukraine.
The good thing about the impeachment hearings is that we will get to listen to the actual tapes of the Presidents convos with the leader of Ukraine as well as the actual Mueller report among other items.
