President Donald Trump visited his private Virginia golf club for several hours Saturday as Hurricane Dorian bore down on the Southeast coastline.
Trump traveled by helicopter from the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland to his property in Virginia.
The president gave the impression as he left the White House on Friday that he would spend Saturday at Camp David with experts monitoring what has developed into a powerful Category 4 storm.
He said he would return to Washington on Sunday to attend a briefing at the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said Trump traveled with a FEMA official and that he’s being briefed “every hour.”
Trump returned to Camp David later Saturday, where was briefed on the hurricane.
Grisham tweeted that he will receive regular updates throughout the weekend.

I wonder what was wrong with him golfing at the Camp David course? I could have saved the govt some $$.
Trump just couldn’t manage to spend a weekend without golfing at a Trump property.
I wonder how many executives have the time available to golf every weekend.
So much more sagacious than de Blasio who was out in Iowa during a major black out, and simply didn’t care.
Isn’t this the guy who repeatedly criticized his predecessor for playing golf and said that if he were president he’d be working so hard he wouldn’t have time for golf?
How much did we pay for that trip?
Its Trump’s 212th visit to a golf course since becoming president. His games of golf thus far are estimated to have cost the taxpayer $109,000,000.
This is the same guy that tweeted 27 times criticizing Obama for golfing during his presidency.
