Emergency personnel were at the Minnewaska State Park in Kerhonkson on Sunday evening, to rescue a Frum man that fell off a cliff.
Sources tell YWN that the man was on a hike with family, when he fell off the cliff. He may have been taking photos, when “sun glare” blocked his vision, causing him to fall.
Ulster County 911 as well as Catskills Hatzolah Paramedics worked on the scene for nearly two hours. The victim was first located, and rescue personnel worked together to have him lifted back to where Paramedics were staging.
During the rescue, major thunderstorms blew through the area, with winds ion top of the mountain as strong as 60 MPH.
At around 7:45PM< the man was brought to the top of the mountain, and Hatzolah Paramedics were working on him.
He suffered serious injuries.
A Medevac had been placed on standby, but was unable to fly due to the weather.
Minnewaska State Park is located in Ulster County and is a popular spot for hiking because of its views.

yeshiva news?
Did you read the article???? Yes, yeshiva news!
This summer really must end already, it’s tragedy after tragedy.
How about a “Boy Scouts” type of course for dads on rescue in a lake (throwing life saver instead of swimming out, or swimming out with rope around waist), safe hiking, gear like non glare glasses…
I an experienced hiker and have hiked this area dozens of times. If you are an “amateur” you have to stay on the old bridle paths otherwise you can find yourself in trouble. Some of the trails are tricky and not for the faint of heart.
