VIDEOS & PHOTOS: Bike4Chai 2019 Kicks Off From Princeton NJ, Heads To Camp Simcha; Raises More Than TEN MILLION

Nearly 600 cyclists kicked off their 180 mile ride across three states in support of children living with illness as part the tenth annual Bike4Chai.

The ride commenced early Wednesday morning from Princeton, NJ, as riders journeyed along a clearly-marked century route through the picturesque hills of New Jersey and the Pocono Mountains.

Cyclists will spend the next day and a half riding along scenic routes in New Jersey and the Pocono mountains until they reach The World’s Greatest Finish Line, the entrance to Camp Simcha Special, Chai Lifeline’s overnight camp for children with chronic illnesses and disabilities in Glen Spey, NY. There, the cyclists will be greeted by campers, many of whom require wheelchairs, respirators, or other medical equipment to survive, as well as hundreds of family and staff members, who will celebrate along with them.

Fully-stocked rest stops—complete with food, supplies, and entertainment—provided riders with an opportunity to refresh and recharge along the way.

SAG, mechanical, and medical support were available throughout the ride.

Joining the cyclists are 2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans; 17-time Tour de France competitor George Hincapie, retired American professional cyclist Christian Vande Velde, Super Bowl-winning New York Giant Amani Toomer, Stanley Cup-winning New York Rangers Mike Richter and Adam Graves, actor Sean Ringgold, sports commentator and former professional cyclist Bob Roll, and members of Israel’s professional cycling team, Israel Cycling Academy.

At one of the rest stops, a Na Nach truck was parked, and the dancing was keeping the riders moving. [SEE VIDEO BELOW]

The premier cycling event raises funds for Chai Lifeline, the international children’s health support network which provides emotional, social, and financial assistance to children with life-threatening or lifelong illnesses and their families.

  1. Hi can someone explain to me the following things:
    1. Should the bikers be wearing tzitzis because two days of not just to bike seems counterintuitive 2. When they go to times square and do their singing its based off non Jewish music whats the heter for that 3. how come there are no talks of chai lifeline after mass shootings only after something in the community is hurt? tx

  2. Kol hakovod to all the participants (as well as the many behind the scenes in the “sag wagons” , rest stops, registration etc. who make these kinds of events possible. Incredible work year after year.
Samsonmike: Really stupid and demeaning comments towards these wonderful baalei tzedakah.

  3. gadol oyur obviously not such a gadol if tou cant understand the depth of my question the point in all is a zechus to help the kids but it’s backwards if potential mitzvos arent being used stop beign american and get soem help

  4. samsonmike, again as mentioned, really stupid and demeaning comment. If you have any shailos ask you Rav, dont post demeaning comments on YWN where these amazing people should only be praised. Shame on you.

  5. Personally, I’m pretty resentful that Bike4Chai is getting such attention from Yeshiva World News, when Tour Simcha was ignored by them earlier this summer.

  6. samsonnmike If you do any good deed i will flatter you if thats what you want…. not sure what your point is there….. My point is, if you dont have anything nice to say dont talk. If you have a legitimate question ask your local orthodox Rabbi.
YWN is not a place to put people down.
