A construction accident involving a forklift, forced the closure of Avenue M in the Midwood section of Brooklyn, Thursday morning.
It happened at 1321 Avenue M, between East 13 and 14th Street at around 8:40AM. The FDNY tells YWN that construction lift which was carrying a heavy load began tilting, and was in danger of overturning into a four story commercial building. FDNY says that the driver was preventing the lift from falling into into the building. FDNY specialty units responded to the scene to stabilize the lift.
At around 10:00AM, the lift was stabilized by FDNY.
The driver has safely been removed and refused medical treatment and transportation.
The load of construction material is slowly being removed.
NYPD is on scene enforcing the street closure of Avenue M from East 12th Street to East 15th Street. Buses and all traffic were being rerouted.
