YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of HaRav Reuven Scheiner ZATZAL, a Magid Shiur at Yeshiva Torah Vodaas in Flatbush for more than 50 years.
The Levaya will be held at 1:00PM at the Yeshiva, located at 425 East 9th Street in Brooklyn.
Kevurah will be in Eretz Yisrael.

He was a really special person who will be missed.
I have attended his fantastic camp in Eretz Yisroel ITT several times. I particularly recall how one summer there was a problematic boy in camp & rather than expel him, Rebbi simply had this boy stay the remainder of the summer in his already small Dirah along with the rest of his family!
The love he had for every detail of Artzeinu HaKedosha was tangible; he would even get visibly excited by seeing, “Look everyone, such beautiful trees on the right (side of the bus)!”
The respect he had towards the Gedolim he would take us to visit was so inspiring & these visits were greatly enhanced by seeing the great Kovod which the Gedolim reciprocatd to him.

Baruch Dayan Ha’emes. He gave one of the two first year Beis Medrash Iyun shi’urim, and he Beki’us shi’ur to the other shi’ur. He was extremely approachable and always chearful, in addition to being a Talmid Chacham.

No relation to Rabbi Sheiner of Kamenitz. He was a major Talmid Chacham, one who was able to talk about any sugya b’iyun. He left a family of bnei torah and machzikei torah. Some of his sons are Shachne, Dovid Noach, Arye, Kalman, Lazer (Louie Sheiner from Monsey). He will be sadly missed.
I had the zechus of learning by Rav Scheiner 45 years ago in the 10th grade in YTV. That year we learned shabbos. It was around the same time that Rav Shimon Eider zt”l came out with the first all English Sefer on Hilchos Shabbos. Our Rebbe went through with us the entire Sefer cover to cover. He was not embarrassed what others would say, he did what was best for his talmidim. Thanks to him many of us who were in the class knew the halachos of shabbos much better then talmidim much older than us and gave us a good foundation for the future. His Purim parties were also the best. We have lost a truly great person.
