Misaskim has informed YWN of the Petira of Rav Uri Hellman ZATZAL, one of the last of the “Alter Mirrer”, and the Menahel in Bais Yaakov of Boro Park for the past 64 years. Rav Uri had been rushed to the hospital on the second days of Pesach, after suddenly collapsing – and Tehillim was being said for his recovery in batei medrashim, and Bais Yaakov’s across the globe.
Unfortunately, Rav Uri returned his soul to his maker just as Shabbos was starting.
Rav Uri leaves behind his Chovusha Rebbitzen, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and thousands of Talmidos. His children are Rav Yitzchok Hellman, Magid Shiur in Mir Yerushalayim, the noted Askan R’ Moshe Hellman, who is involved with dozens of Mosdos, R’ Moti Hellman, Mrs. Scheinberg, Mrs. Silverman, Mrs. Spiegal, Mrs. Gradon, and Mrs. Brisman.
UPDATE: The Levaya is scheduled for Sunday at 12:00 Noon, at the Bais Yaakov of Boro Park – 4422 15th Avenue. The Kevura will be taking place in Eretz Yisroel at Har Menuchos.
Boruch Dayan Emmes….

Thank you for update. Its amazing. You guys have the news before the grandchildren.
Please note: The levaya is at Bais Yaakov HIGH SCHOOL, not BY of BP, which is the independent elementary school located a 2 blocks away.
Will there be a hookup? Thanks.
There is a hookup by Kol Haloshon right now. Dial (718) 906-6400. Press * for LIVE shiuim, if the hesped is still in progress.
Otherwise, from the main menu, choose 8 for Hespedim and then choose 11 for the hespedim of Rav Heller. We have broken up the speakers in separate files.
The world lost an icon. I can’t picture the hallways of BYHS without Rabbi Hellman zt’l there. Just to share one story. When someone stole money from me in the school, Rabbi Hellman zt’l called me into his office and asked me how musch was taken. He then proceeded to write out a check from his personal account to cover the loss. He was a person who did the right thing without looking for praise and kovod. We all can mourn the loss of a great mechanach who devoted his life to raising thousands of true bas yisraels. Where would all those “Lakewood boys” be without girls who share their priorities?!
4, thank you and tizku l’mitzvos for all you and your staff do. And I assume you mean Rabbi Hellman.
Baruch Dayan Haemes.
From what I remember him, he was a very special and kind man.
May he be a meiltiz yosher for us.
