The heavy sharav heat-wave conditions over the weekend set the stage for many fires around Israel. This was the case in the area near Elad on Sunday, 2 Rosh Chodesh 5773. As the fire spread, endangering caravans and other buildings, officials realized the need to evacuate talmidim from a number of yeshivos. One adult and a small child suffered light smoke inhalation as a number of fire apparatus from Petach Tikvah worked to bring the blaze under control.
