Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein Announces Agreement Between United HealthCare And Local Community Pediatricians

Two weeks into his term in office, Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein was approached by a large number of constituents about an issue that concerns thousands of local families. In January, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan made significant changes in its reimbursement policy towards pediatricians that would affect the insurance coverage of families across Borough Park, Midwood and Kensington. The decision forced many residents to search for alternate arrangements, despite the fact that they were content with their current health care provider.

Assemblyman Eichenstein immediately realized the significance of the issue and was proactive in helping his constituents. Within several days, a meeting was arranged at Assemblyman Eichenstein’s office which included Pat Celli, CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan and several Boro Park pediatricians.

“While discussions and negotiations are ongoing with other pediatricians, I am pleased to announce that UnitedHealthcare has reached an agreement with the offices of Dr. Bulmash, Dr. Diamond and Dr. Roth. The insurance company will now resume accepting them as providers in the UHC network,” said Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein.

Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein continued, “There is nothing more gratifying than bringing parties together for the common good. I’d like to thank UnitedHealthcare CEO Pat Celli and his staff as well as our local pediatricians for working together and coming up with a viable solution. Our children’s health care is a top priority, and now families can choose wisely when deciding upon a healthcare plan that suits their needs.”

Community members are advised to contact their health care professionals in deciding which plan best suits their family’s needs. But now there are more options available, and more qualified healthcare providers to choose from.

  1. Kudos to Simcha Eichenstein. United Healthcare has gotten away with too much for far too long!! This meeting was long overdue! United Healthcare does not Care about your Health. They only care about their dollars and sense!! Thanks Reb Simcha! You should have a lot of success uncovering the wrong to make it right for patients in need!!

  2. Perhaps it might be worth considering for parents to change their children’s managed care provider away from United Healthcare Community Plan to either HealthFirst, Fidelis or Empire Blue Cross?

  3. United charges exorbitant premiums for minimum reimbursement.
Their executives take home millions in bonuses at the expense of both providers and patients.
At the same time they hire low-tier customer “service”personnel.
Ever call? after an hour on hold the final answer is usually “I don’t know”.
These executives should only get sick and be covered by the same insurance they sell…..
