Police say an officer has shot and wounded a suspect in Harlem while responding to a report of a man armed with a gun.
It happened inside an apartment complex on West 114th Street just before 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say officers encountered the suspect on the fourth floor and ordered him to take his hands out of his pockets.
Police say the man refused and suddenly stated he had a gun, took a shooting stance, and pointed an unidentified object at the officers. One of the officers fired, striking the 34-year-old man in the hip. He was hospitalized in stable condition.
Police say the shooting was captured on one of the officer’s body cameras and will be reviewed.
