WATCH: Trump Blasts Harry Reid After Saying He Wishes For President Bush ‘Every Day’

Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that despite intensely criticizing George W. Bush in the past, he now wishes for the former President “every day”.

The Nevada Democrat said current President Donald Trump is so bad that he makes Bush look like “Babe Ruth.”

“I just have trouble accepting him as a person, so frankly, I don’t see that he’s doing anything right,” said Reid, who had earlier told the New York Times he saw Trump as “without question, the worst president we’ve ever had.”

CNN’s Dana Bash recalled that Reid had spoken similarly about Bush “about a dozen years ago” in an interview with her in Nevada, and often called Bush a “loser” and “liar”, among other names. Now, he is calling Trump names, such as “spoiled brat,” “conman,” and “human leach.” The former Senate Majority Leader said his attitude toward Bush has now changed because of Trump.

“In hindsight, I wish every day for a George Bush again,” he said, as Bash laughed surprisedly. Reid continued, “I think that he and I had our differences, but no one ever questioned his patriotism…. There’s no question in my mind that George Bush would be Babe Ruth in this league that he’s in with Donald Trump in the league. Donald Trump wouldn’t make the team.”

Trump shot back at Reid Monday morning on Twitter, accusing Reid of trying to restore his “failed career” in the Senate after getting “thrown out.”

Reid retired from the Senate in 2015 following an injury that nearly left him blind in one eye.

“He led through lies and deception, only to be replaced by another beauty, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer. Some things just never change!” the President tweeted.
