This past Sunday was a day of mixed emotions in the Jewish community of Cape Town, South Africa as they buried 6 burned Sifrei Torah but also celebrated the completion of a new one.

As YWN reported, a massive fire ripped through Beit Midrash Morasha on Chanukah, tragically destroying the Sifrei Torah.

Rabbi Sam Thurgood and South African Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein addressed the crowd before the Kevura. Afterwards, the new Sefer Torah was completed and escorted to the Shul with joyous dancing.
