A teenager accused of dragging a New York City police officer while driving a stolen car has been sentenced to 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison.
Justin Murrell was sentenced on Wednesday after being found guilty of assault for the June 2017 incident that left Officer Dalsh Veve (veh-VAY’) with severe injuries. He had been acquitted of attempted murder.
NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill criticized the short sentence, calling it “an absolute disgrace.”
Authorities say Veve was investigating a report of gunshots when he approached then 15-year-old Murrell, who was behind the wheel of the stolen car in Brooklyn.
Murrell took off, dragging the officer for several blocks.
Veve suffered severe brain damage and spent months in a rehabilitation facility. Authorities say Veve will never fully recover from his injuries.

Maybe the nypd should do some soul searching in how thier own men/women in blue act out when on duty.
It’s quite predictable that this animal will once again hurt someone down the line. Lets hope his next victim is this judge or one of her family members.
Watching, listening, or reading the news I thought it was the rule to tell me the race of everybody, including the judge. I don’t see it mentioned in this AP article…
