Farm tractors and other slow-moving vehicles will be allowed to travel a little faster on New York roads under a new law.
Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently signed legislation that raises the speed at which slow-moving vehicles can travel from 25 mph to 35 mph. Farm vehicles and construction equipment must have orange triangular signs indicating that they are slow-moving vehicles.
The measure was sponsored by state Sen. Pam Helming, a Republican from Canandaigua in Ontario County, and Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner, a Democrat from Round Lake in Saratoga County.
The lawmakers say the new legislation was needed because construction equipment and farm tractors are being designed to travel at speeds higher than 25 mph.
The New York Farm Bureau endorsed the measure, which goes into effect in the spring.

But yet us evil taxpaying citizens of Brooklyn, NY are not allowed to drive faster than 25mph on Ocean Parkway or Coney Island Avenue thanx to DeBlasio. The standard vehicle today can go between 110 to 120 mph, a lot faster than a tractor.
