TRAGEDY IN LAKEWOOD: Bochur R”L Killed, Another Seriously Injured in Crash; Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Driver [UPDATED]


Tragedy struck the Lakewood community on Sunday morning, when word spread of a horrific crash that took the life of a young man.

The crash occurred just before 7:30AM on County Line Road near Cedar Row.

Lakewood Hatzolah arrived and found one victim (the passenger) in traumatic arrest. He was rushed to a local hospital, but was R”L Niftar moments after arriving.

The driver was rushed to Jersey Shore Trauma Center in critical but stable condition.

The Niftar has been identified as Yechiel Feingold, 20-years-old of Baltimore, Maryland. He learned in Rabbi Goldblatt’s yeshiva in Lakewood.

His friends have started a Chesed Fund to raise money for a Sefer Torah in Yechiel’s memory. Click here to donate in his memory.

The Levaya of Habochur Yechiel Feingold will take place at Newark Airport at 6:00 pm. 340 Airis Ave Newark, NJ.

Lakewood Police have recovered a second vehicle involved in the crash which had fled the scene. Police took the man into custody late Sunday afternoon.

  2. You can see the deep soul of that bochur in that clip. Full of feeling, full of desire to acheive more, to reach great heights and to make a difference to people.

    It is really tragic how many young frum people have been killed in the past few weeks in sudden and horrific circumstances. Its almost the entire Unesaneh Tokef being played out for real. I’m not going to say it’s because of this or that, but really we all need to take a reality check and ask if we are working hard and doing our best Tafkid in this world or just coasting along and trying to enjoy the ride.

  3. One thing that we need to work on is shalom and ahavas yisroel, instead of the machlokes and loshon hora of the past few weeks, r”l.
