At approximately 4:30PM EST Wednesday afternoon, Baltimore police officers shot an alleged perpetrator on Olympia Avenue off of Park Heights.

According to a YWN reporter on the scene, police were involved in a pursuit of a man driving a vehicle – for unknown reasons. Apparently, the man stopped his vehicle in the 3500-block of Olympia Avenue in Park Heights, made a gesture as if he were going to approach them – which prompted cops to open fire at the man.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, but YWN confirms that the man has been pronounced dead.

Boruch Hashem, there were no injuries reported to any pedestrians on the streets.

Expect traffic in the area, as several streets in the area remain closed as the investigation continues.

  1. So that’s what all those helicopters were hovering overhead…

I just finished dropping off a carpool and heard all the commotion.

    Baruch Hashem everyone is safe.

  2. GiveASmile- there’s a reason that bli ayin hara there’s only a “bissele action” in Baltimore and that is thanks to Shomrim Baltimore and the frum patrol NWCP. Baltimore’s frum community has one of the lowest crime rates than almost any other frum kehilla. I heard that in lakewood they are starting a patrol modeled after Baltimore’s NWCP because of it’s success. Shomrim was on this case right away and that’s why it didn’t turn into something bigger baruch Hashem.

  3. I would like to clarify some points regarding this story. The person who the police shot lived on that block. He had a knife and was ordered multiple times by the police to drop it.He refused to obey the command to drop the knife then lunged at the police forcing them to open fire. Shomrim was on the scene to help with the perimeter and traffic flow.I appreciate the accolades that cholent lover directed towards shomrim. It is a zechus to help protect the baltimore community which we do every day with the constant support and backup of the baltimore city police department.Thank you very much, Heshie,Shomrim v.p.
