Forbes published its annual roster of America’s wealthiest this week, and five Jews made the 2018 top-10 list.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg leads the pack at #4, with a net worth of $61 billion. He is followed by software giant Oracle’s Larry Ellison at #5 with $58.4b and Google co-founder Larry Page at #6 with $53.8b.
Fellow Google co-founder Sergey Brin falls a bit behind with $52.4b, leaving him at #9. Finally, former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg closes out the top-10 with a respectable $51.8b.
The top three spots on the list are held by non-Jews, who have way more ‘gelt’ than the Jewish men: Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet lead with $160b, $97b and $88b respectively.

Does the “Jewish-ness” of any one of these people really make a difference? I would say that it certainly doesnt work in their favor. At least if they werent Jewish they wouldnt have a mitzvah of tzedaka. Now they are collectively negating the mitzva of tzedaka to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars. And the non-Jewish children from their non-Jewish wives doesnt stand them in good stead either. Maybe we should refer to them rather as people “of Jewish descent”
