A man whose daughter died in the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., tried to shake the hand of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh during a break in Tuesday’s confirmation hearing.
Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter Jamie died in the February 2018 attack, approached Kavanaugh after he rose from the witness table for a lunch break. He put out his hand to Kavanaugh, who paused for a moment before turning away as a security guard stepped in. Afterward, Guttenberg tweeted that Kavanaugh “did not want to deal with the reality of gun violence.”
White House spokesman Raj Shah says security intervened before Kavanaugh could shake the hand of the “unidentified individual.”
After the encounter, Capitol Police talked with Guttenberg. He was again sitting in the hearing room for the afternoon session.
Just walked up to Judge Kavanaugh as morning session ended. Put out my hand to introduce myself as Jaime Guttenberg's dad. He pulled his hand back, turned his back to me and walked away. I guess he did not want to deal with the reality of gun violence.

To be clear, I was invited by Senator Feinstein to attend today. Anyone who knows me knows I will talk to anyone. I initiated an effort to introduce myself to Kavanaugh. It was my decison and I own it. Anyone trying to come up with some politial master plan is simply wrong.

Thank you for inviting me. I hope my attempted hand shake to the judge did not cause you much trouble. https://t.co/fATiAXm3KU

Joseph Goebbels (yamach shmo) would be proud of this type of reporting. This selective editing technique was perfected by Nazi propaganda experts. The video from another angle clearly shows that Kavanaugh was being ushered out by the security personnel because of the unruly protesters. Why YWN is in the business of spreading Fake News?
This article is misleading. It is clear from the video that security was involved, and this event was super-charged with badness because of the protests.
Wow, propaganda to the max. How ridiculous.
II would ask whether either one of them shook hands with anyone else? No such thing is evident from the video. So a stranger approaches with his hand out, deliberately targeting Kavanaugh and only Kavanaugh, during the tense period (the protetsers were making themselves a serious security concern). Really looks like this guy was trying to politicize (apparently at the instigation of Feinstein) his daughter’s death.
And it looks like the guy actually managed to tap Kavanaugh’s elbow to try to get his attention. Security was not doing its job properly – no one should have gotten that close to him.
