For the second time in 24 hours, Boro Park Shmira were single-handily responsible for the arrest of a suspect wanted for stealing a vehicle.
Shmira tell YWN that on Tuesday morning, they received a call on their hotline reporting a stolen rental van from 39 Street and 15 Avenue. Police had been notified and had already taken a report.
More than a dozen Shmira volunteers began canvassing the area, and one of them noticed the vehicle parked in the Midwood (Flatbush) area. The suspect exited a building and entered the van and began driving away. Following him from a safe distance, Shmira volunteers were able to give live-time information to the NYPD.
The vehicle was stopped by the NYPD at Stillwell Avenue and 86 Street in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn. He was taken into custody at gunpoint by officers from the NYPD’s 62 Precinct.
